This compares well with postfix, qmail, exim and far better than exchange. Personally, I wouldn't use anything else. However I freely admit that my bias has come from trialling all the alternatives at a lesser state of maturity than today, and finding they failed miserably in some way or another. They may well be better now - probably are - but I can get sendmail to reliably do everything I want it to so I'm not going to throw away many years of learning to replace it now.
