I have tried several distros on my ASUS with no problems except the inbuilt camera. Ubuntu doesn't like booting with my USB hub but generally gets there second time around.
I love it and would buy ASUS again if I was upgrading.

Chris

it doesn't have to be all that flash at all as I want it as a bit of a knock around but I need to running some $windoze only mapping software &

GPS using VMware so I probably need 500mb min. ram and better than 1-1.5

gig processor I guess??

GIS and GPS? I suspect, running on top of Windows and in a virtual machine, a
mere 516MB isn't going to cut it. Get at least 1GB - GIS is in that specialized
Graphics/CAD region where the more memory you have, the happier you will be.

Just my - illegal now in NZ currency - 0.02c worth!
