Suspend does not work under ubuntu on this machine so can't test - actually the suspend appears to work but the restore from suspend does not - pc powers up but never get any display, when rebooted again fsck finds all sorts of inconsistencies in the root filesystem and dies with instructions to run it manually...(windows suspend does work however). Hibernate works fine - interestingly if I hibernate pc after screen display becomes corrupted when it comes out of hibernation the corruption has gone. >What graphics card/chipset is in the machine? Ran up puppy linux last night - screen blanking did not seem to affect the display at all when it was activated again - did it 20 or 30 times and was all good. Does this imply there is something wrong with my configuration? Or should I try KDE instead - is it different in the way it handles the display somehow? >Biff this into /etc/rc.local - it will disable console blanking completely. > >setterm -powersave off >setterm -blank 0 -powerdown 0 I'll use this as a last resort workaround - thanks.
