huh?  the only discrepancy that i got was:
patching file linux/drivers/block/ll_rw_blk.c
Hunk #1 succeeded at 1193 (offset 7 lines).
patching file linux/drivers/md/raid5.c

It is beginning to look like PEBCAK.

Well, PEBCAK for a few of us. Doesn't help that there are multiple, different 2.4.21 XFS patches at ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs
