Your Windows box does not have any bearing on your Linux box. If you are using a dial-in modem, most Windows modems will not work with Linux... Linux much prefers hardware modems, like US Robotics v.Everything. Even if your dial-up modem works, it will still have to be configured to work in an application like kppp, to connect with your ISP. If you have a DSL connection, you can usually get it to work simply by telling your Linux box to look for DHCP when it boots... it will query your DSL modem/router for an IP address and DNS info, and as long as the DSL modem is not 'Windows Only' (most aren't), you will be on-line automatically. -- -wittig http://www.robertwittig.com/ . http://robertwittig.net/ To unsubscribe from this list, please email [EMAIL PROTECTED] & you will be removed.
