I am using a usr modem which in the past has allowed me to do what I
want. The only thing is using surfbest's dialer I need to click on connect.
Using an
M$ dialer, ubuntu might be able to connect by itself IF I have made the
proper settings to allow it.

This part I know nothing about.
Some day soon I will be transferring Linux to this newer system and
windoze to the older one, with the modem staying in the newer one as it is
now. First I need to learn more about ubuntu.
