cool yea my router is that way it has the spot for the dsl modem to plug in 
then has the 4 spots for computer plus wireless. so cool I think I will take 
the plunge tonight should I format the hard drive first or will linux delete 
and get rid of win 98 also what version of linux is best has I said I have an 
older version that says mandrake and says it is version.6.5 then I have the 
ubonto disk or is another one on line easier which kind do you use.

  A router will be fine as long as it is working now, the way you have it 
  set up.

  A lot of DSL modems have have 1 plug in the back to receive the DSL 
  line, and 4 plugs in the back to receive ethernet cables to computers. 
  That is what I have, so that is what I was describing, but if you have a 
  router or an ethernet hub plugged into the DSL modem, that should work 
  equally well, with the additional Linux computer.
