Hi Sameer,
That was really neat, but what you have missed out on, is the fact that the
"Desktop" paradigm created at Xerox PARC and implemented in the best way
ever by Apple (and copied by others) is 20 years old.
Yup, when you asked the question "Why do we need the desktop", you were
indeed right, what we need is a new way of interfacing with the computer.
So rather than trying to be a winDOZE or Mac look-alike, Linux has the
opportunity to tear away from the past and go on to become the NeXT big
thing in computing.
With networking as its forte and an UI designed around it, things would be
really different from what we have now.
If anybody out there is willing to go out on a journey to do just that.
If anybody would like to create something that is not just better than what
we have right now, but create something that is "Insanely Greater".
If anybody would like to work on a project that is out to redefine the
current trends in computing and especially operating systems.
Drop in a mail at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and let me know about what you think
about the existing state of computing and where it *should* be heading.
Regards.
