Both are open source and both have large support communities. Given that Windows now runs on ARM, Microsoft is not too far from entering the same game. And it has a Killer feature in terms of Kinect. A "smart" TV that can directly play games with Kinect can be a huge Win for Microsoft. There are already speculation that Apple is going to enter the same market soon.
