Just want to know what the brand bashers use. Anyway first, thanks for
spending time to provide inputs.

A client of mine used an assembled Indian AC but right from the start,
it was not cooling so well.

True. This is because people buy Bose home theaters in place of stereo
music systems for audio playback. Home theatres are meant for movies
only as they do not reproduce sound as original. Bose stereo systems are
available but only for those who own a Mercedes E-Class and above. After
years of using assembled audio systems, I bought a Sonodyne amp. with
tower speakers and their sound reproduction is lovely. A good audio
company has instruments for measuring and calibrating systems, test
rooms for testing, improvement and that gives the additional touch.

These clones are not like the original. A friend of mine had it and knew
it was no way like the original. It was just a fun purchase. A client of
mine was very impressed by the original iphone of a European visitor so
he ordered one ;-) from the timesofindia ads for about 5K or 6K . After
the initial disappointment of reality dawning on him, it even developed
problems and he had a harrowing time getting warranty support.

As mentioned earlier, I am not a fan of branded products, I am only
considering them a safe bet when spending hard earned money on something
expensive and bought once in many years. As an electronics service
engineer, since 1988 I have been doing field visit to homes and offices
of people of all income groups, even shanties in Mumbai and inside
Maharashtra and Gujarat and the general psychology of the customer is to
buy stuff that will give peace of mind after purchase. If the neighbours
and relatives are using a particular brand, they will use it too. If the
brand is foreign and expensive in the official channels, they will try
the grey market (Sony, National, Panasonic). The neighbourhood
electronics dealer also plays an important role in monopoly of a brand
in a particular area. Chinese goods really have a low price compared to
the branded ones but it is purely for economic reasons that general
people go for them. They are well aware of brands. It is just like the
first automobile that one buys for low price and then as time
progresses, the vehicle gets bigger and more expensive, more wheels.

Like India, China too has good manufacturers along with the baddies but
for various reasons the overall record of Chinese goods quality in India
has been dismal and it is always a risky gamble, until some drastic
improvements take place in their quality assurance.
