Well, a charter that *I* would like to see (for any social group in any locality on any topic) would be very very different, and would run along the lines of: 1. The purpose of the group is to bring together people in $GEO_AREA interested in $TOPIC. 2. Every person without exception who expresses an interest in $TOPIC and is able and willing to attend and participate in events in $GEO_AREA has an entitlement right to be a member of the group. No person who expresses interest in $TOPIC and shows up at the physical events may be denied group membership for ANY reason, even if that person is a terrorist, a serial killer, a cannibal, a child molester or the world's most evil, most horrible and most disgusting person. 3. No group member may exercise any dictatorial powers over any other member. In particular, no member can ever ban or remove any other member from the group, and no member may ever restrict or moderate any other member's speech under any circumstances for any reason. That's a pretty simple template charter for an Ultimate Free For All group, and it is my firm conviction that every social group on any topic in any locality should be like that. Although I have not been on the receiving end of any mailing list moderation stick myself yet, I have heard that other group members have been subjected to wrongful moderation on the list, and that is absolutely Wrong and unacceptable. Any kind of governmental structure in the group that allows a particular "lord" or clique of "lords" to ban members or seekers from the mailing list or from the physical meetings is nothing short of utmost reprehensible tyranny, and it is my duty to rebel in the most violent manner against any such developments, even if the person on the receiving end of the stick is someone I barely know or don't know at all as in the present case.
