Where do you see it not being free?  I think you have many misconceptions,
sometimes linux bigotry works both ways.

1 - the OS is free
2 - the only licensed portions are the market and google specific apps
(gtalk, gmail) which Google never intended to be free
3 - all the source code has been released

So how is it not free?
