And what about the JVM on the XP server?

To some extent I'd agree. I don't think it will be large enough to sway
people/companies over to Netscape:
1. it only applies to Windows XP
2. IE/Windows will still support Java; users will need to install it on
their own, rather than it be there out of the box
As other technologies (like Flash) are becoming more predominant and more
complex (you can do some amazing stuff with ActionScripting and a
server-side language like CF), applets matter less. So
we're looking at an impact to a subset (users who are unwilling or unable to
install Java) of a subset (Users on Windows XP - of course, this will
increase as time goes on) of a subset (users that utilize pages that are
dependent upon Java applets) of Web activity out there. There will be some
impact, but likely it will be minimal. Additionally, consider that
AOL/Netscape have stated that they really aren't going to focus of their
browser product. I really can't see companies shifting from a supported
technology to an unsupported one simply because one feature requires a
little effort to get working (you know they'll just offload the effort to
their IT and helpdesk departments anyways).
