That's not entirely correct. According to Netcraft surveys:

Among active sites, IIS is used on 26%, Apache on 62%.
Operating systems running web servers: Windows is used on 49%, Linux 29%,
with the rest being mostly misc Unix variants.
Additionally, .NET is more than a server-side solution; the .NET CLR will
also be used by desktop apps developed using VisualStudio.net.
And it's more than a Windows solution: Ximian, the company that developed
Gnome, is developing an open-source version of .NET for Linux:
