The Gundam Mk-II and Hizack are both similar. The limbs are not really
purple at all; when I mixed the colors for my Mk-II I didn't add any
red at all. The torso for the Hizack is much lighter, leaving the
contrast much more subdued, whereas the high contrast between the
Mk-II's dark blue - almost black - torso, and the lighter limbs gives
the Gundam Mk-II a visual strikingness which the Hizack somewhat
lacks. This plus the Gundam Mk-II's additional red trim, such as the
cockpit hatch and V-fin centerpiece, and more, brighter, and more
pronounced thruster and vent openings gives the Gundam Mk-II a
striking visual contrast, leaving the Hizack rather subdued. However,
it would seem fitting for the Mk-II to be the "king" and the Hizacks
to be "pawns" - all parts of the same chess set yet the Gundam Mk-II
stands out as the leader.
The Rick/Dom(II) is completely different. It, too, has red, but it is
used in a completely different way. Whereas the Gundam Mk-II's red is
used as contrasting accents, the Dom's red is used in conjunction with
its very purple arms, legs, and "belt", in such areas and quantities
so as to give the Dom a somewhat demonic look. Its torso, skirt, and
soles are pretty much black. If I were to paint a Dom, I'd mix black
with just a little bit of red and a little bit of blue, just to give
it a purple "suggestion". But in the lineart it is clearly black, and
if it isn't any deviation from black is barely noticeable. In
contrast, the dark color on the Mk-II, Hizack, and Quel are all
noticably bluer than black.
The Rick Dias is hardly bluish. I would call most of it dark gunmetal,
with a bit of black here and there and a bit of light gray showing
here and there. I would say this is also completely different,
color-wise.
Lastly, the Quel. It's supposedly the forerunner of the Gundam Mk-II,
but the colors in the lineart are rather different. The Quel's limbs
are mostly gray, with a hint of purple, but the Mk-II is a vibrant
blue. The torsos are similar. Also note the protruding chest vents on
the Mk-II, as opposed to the Quel's inset chest vents, consistent with
other GMs such as the GM type C, or the GM commands from 0080.
