Exactly. After all, that's what Greedo was there for, and with a price
as big as he had on his head, he knew Greedo wasn't about to just let

I think that at that point Jabba didn't want Han dead.  I can say this
because even in the original footage of Jabba with the human actor that was
filmed back in the 70s Jabba didn't kill him on the spot.  On top of that in
the Special Editions he didn't have Han killed on the spot for stepping on
his tail (my biggest pet peeve about that scene).  I think Greedo was a
newbie Bounty Hunter who wanted to make a name for himself.  He thought
killing Solo would establish his reputation as a badass.

On a side note I think the Special Edition Jabba scene would've been better
if they had cut away to Chewbacca, with Han's dialogue still going, so that
they didn't have to have Han step on Jabba's tail at all.  He comes back
around to the same place so it could work to cut away to Chewbacca.
