Lunar-A looks like their most advanced "current project" (purely based
on the layout of their website, not the sci/tech of the project):

Under the heading of "future moon exploration", this is their most
concrete plan I managed to find:

JAXA's website exposes less details (esp. in English) than NASA but a
bit more than China's CNSA. Space news out of the left wing
newspapers in HK are coming fast and furious. On one hand, there was
the failure of a very expensive telecom satellite. On the other,
there's talk of a Chinese lunar base and a Chinese space shuttle. But
the official info from the government itself is much more sober:
Chinese: http://www.gov.cn/zwgk/2006-10/12/content_410824.htm
English: http://www.cnsa.gov.cn/n615709/n620682/n639462/79381.html
Notice the Moon was the tenth out of twelve goals, behind such mundane
items as improving the lifespan and capacity of telecom satellites.

Do the Japanese have any particular goals for this Lunar Base or is just
to prove that this is possible?
Ahhh we just had a big discussion on space programmes, this doesn't
bring anything new to the discussion, I think.
Those robots are cool!
They remind me of (1) Honda's ASIMO robot, and (2) Issac Asimov's book
covers from 1960s.
