I agree.

On a different note, I thought I'd conduct an informal poll.

Which series designs appeal to you most not counting retrocons**? (**Liking
a Dom from 08th MS Team is the same as liking a Dom in First Gundam.)

I am not asking as the typical geeky "Is Star Trek better than Star Wars" or
"Who would win in a fight between an Ewok and a Tribble" kind of way.
My intent is to discern if it is true that most people prefer the First
Gundam designs. While we do get a lot of new designs, there are also a lot
of reinterpretations of First Gundam designs such as the Zakus in Seed or
the retrocons in 0080. Is it that the First Gundam Designs are
fundamentally better?

For me it's hard to say. Seeing some of the original artwork (and models based off that artwork) I feel that the First Gundam designs are too plain, too simple - big clunky limbs with almost no detail. The retrocons I like better, especially the 0080 ones. I really really wish that team of artists would be allowed to reanimate (changing nothing in the story or actual scenes) the Original Series using their updated designs. The later series got better and better. The Alternate series, almost completely, blow. The designs are good but not great, some nice ideas, but every one of them have underwhelmed me. But they are usually more detailed than the original versions of the very first Gundam stuff.
