Wait, *Ireland*? That's, what, a decade out of date even now. Why are
we expected to believe they've managed to keep hostilities simmering
for 400 years?
Anyway, that aside...
It occurs to me that maybe what we're seeing here is a series where
the typical Gundam conventions are turned on their heads. Gundams
have taken on the role of Zeonists, boldly proclaiming they are
fighting for a better future even as they engage in terrorist
activities. Meanwhile, the true protagonists -- the scientists and
aces playing catchup in the AEU, Union, and HRL -- are cast in the
role of the Federation, fighting off a terrorist threat with largely
outdated equipment (but just wait until they catch up, and build the
true Gundam of the piece; the super-advanced prototype that puts the
state-of-the-art suits of the other side to shame...).
