If I may provide a minor observation, which I felt the list is somewhat missing 
the trees for the forest: what is the biggest difference between 00 and Wing, 
seed & seed destiny?

I think you're asking some very valid questions. Personally, I've been 
wondering if the director's hands are tied by the commercial demands of Bandai 
eg "Do this type of story, we know this sells. Don't do that, it won't sell 
kits!" etc. With FMA, I more follow the manga (I'm up to volume 13) then the 
anime (only seen the first 2 episodes). However, alot of people have told me 
they feel once the anime goes into original content it loses the charm and 
style of the original manga. That makes me worried that perhaps FMA was lucky 
enough to have high quality source material, did well and Sunrise said 
"Japanese and Americans love this show but less like our Gundam. If we hire 
that director, he's sure to give us a success!"
