When I start a series (assuming I start a series) I always give it a
lot of artistic license/benefit of doubt whatever. With G00 I was
especially enthusiastic because FMA was so much better than the
standard anime quality.

I am not satisfied with it on the scene-by-scene level and the
arc-by-arc level. Many scenes takes me out of immersion as I went "do
I believe what just happened now?" instead of following the flow of
the story.

Each arc, roughly the same as an "intervention" in G00 language, is
also shaky on its own. I can sense that Mizushima is hatching a grand
scheme. But the building blocks (scenes and arcs) are of very poor
quality, so far.

Tell you what I like so far: both director and the characters are
being very subtle about Good vs. Evil question. It neither rejects it
completely like relativists, nor endorses it following the neo-cons
and fundamentalists. In some sense this part is more complicated and
deeper than my own favorites First Gundam and Turn-A.

The shows references current real world conflicts and forces the
audience to find the parallels between the in-show debates and
real-world debates. Of course most of the audience is still refusing
to think along that line, but the writer/director are trying. I
respect that.

The show is passively politically incorrect. Blacks, Indians, Arabs
and the South are weak (we have a Black character finally), Whites and
Yellows are rich and/or powerful. But I don't think it's
simplistically racist. Rich and powerful doesn't equal good, Whites
and Yellows are the _root_ cause of most of the evils in the G00
future. This is especially clear in the Azadistan arc. Arabs, Kurds,
Reformists, Conservatives are making a mess for themselves. But they
have a chance to sort things out on their own. White people (UN,
Union, and especially AEU) are responsible for destroying that chance.
Likewise HRL (China) can't be pinned down as a force of either Good
or Evil.

I wonder if Mizushima is a fan of Henry Kissinger :)
