I've already mentioned this, but I think it bears repeating.

I have no problem with the writers 'saving stuff' for season two. What I do
have a problem with is that there aren't even the smallest hints about where
season two is going. And since it's already pretty much known that season two
is the end of the series, I would expect the writers to have a vague idea about
where they plan to end up. You don't have to telegraph the entire story, but
good writers know how to use various plot elements to drop hints and clues that
keep the audience interested.

For instance, Deus Ex Machina is widely mocked, and for good reason. It's poor
story telling to have someone or something literally appear out of nowhere and
save the day. A good writer will drop hints (even vague ones) so that at the
very least the viewers can look back and say, "Oh, so THAT'S what that meant!"
Then the viewer kicks him or herself for not understanding the hint when it
appeared. But in episode 16 we get Deus Ex Machina instead.

I don't understand where people think he's pulling this all out of his ass.
I think people seem to forget that season one is a segway into season two,
so not much is SUPPOSE to be explained in this season. Personally I have no
problem with it whatsoever. I guess most people who are hardened UC seem to
be disappointed with this. I guess the UC elitists just won't die.
