I was trying to uninstall Adobe Acrobat from one of my user's PCs yesterday. I got an error:
Error 1711: An error occurred while writing installation information to disk. Check to make sure Enough disk space is available, and click Retry, or Cancel to end the installation. The drives have Gigs of free space, so that can't be the issue. So, I started digging around the internet. I came across this forum thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/error-code-1711-an-error-occurred-while-writing/4b653560-0f3b-4e64-88e6-97ed6c48c0c0 The author fixed his issue by deleting the MSI*.tmp files from the c:\windows\installer directory. So, I looked at my user's PC. He also has 65,534 MSI*.tmp files with a size of 0KB each. There is also one that has a size of 99 MB, which I don't think I'd want to delete, but is it safe to delete the others, with no size? I'm thinking probably yes, since tmp files are supposed to be "temporary"... but before I do something I might regret, I thought I'd run it by you guys. My plan was to actually move them out of this directory, onto the D:\ drive first, just to see what happens, but, again, just to be safe...
