To decompose this thread a little more...
A DC breaker is a safety device.
A DC disconnect is a switch.
It is similar to the old machinst adage "You can drill on a mill, but you
shouldn't mill on a drill."
I had an site that regularly used a circuit breaker as a switch. It failed
prematurely because it was not designed for that application.
Can you use a breaker as a switch? Sure, but do not expect normal service
lifetime or correct operation as it is being used outside the design
specifications. I had a mobile x-ray machine (geez I wished I had the motors
from that thing for an EM) that only had fuses in the battery string. To DC
disconnect we removed the battery leads from junction points.

A dc disconnect is a positive shut-off with contacts meant to make/break
large current, a breaker could become stuck (or unreliable as a shut-off) and
with the current these batteries hold, watch out!

Couldn't a breaker be used for that purpose, essentially making it the same
thing?
