I'm not familiar with the Schauer charger, but the specs on the EV parts
website don't look correct to me. Having the finish voltage lower than the
float voltage is backwards, and if it really only charges at full current up to
2.1 volts per cell, it is going to take a very long time to charge. These
numbers look to me like typos, but I would verify the charge parameters before
I bought one.

Some of the Soneil models tend to run a bit hot which I think eventually can
shorten their lifetime, also I have heard that vibration can cause them issues
over the long haul. I only have personal experience with one 12 volt Soneil
that I used in my garage for several years before it finally died an
unexplained death. It was in almost constant use over the time I had it, so
overall I felt like I easily got my moneys worth out of it. It's very nice to
have a charger you can just turn on and forget about.

yea, i had the same thought using two 24 volt chargers for a 48 volt system

so are the soniels completely automatic? [i.e. can you plug it in and forget
about it?]

what about the difference between

Charger, Soneil, 24 volt, 8 amp constant current output, 115/230 VAC input,
order DC Plug sparately

and

Charger, Schauer Automatic, 24 volts, 7 amps, with XLR connector, 90-260 volt
input, 50/60 hz Worldwide Charger

in terms of a simple safe chargerdamon henry <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

If you're happy with the Soniel, you can always just use two. Either get two
36 volt models, or stick with the 48 volt one you already have and pickup a 24
volt model with similar ratings. damon

Hey Dale, I'm planning on buying a Zivan charger pretty soon and was told that
it is convertable from AGM to lithium by swapping out a chip. I'm switching
from 48V to 72 V on my next bike and I won't be able to get another Soniel
charger cuz they only go up to 48V. I really like the Soniel charger even if it
is kinda wimpy. I have 4 x 55AH AGM and my charging philosophy is that slow
charging will extend battery life.
