You mentioned a class blog. How do you use that? I see that students submit classwork - is it where everyone can see? I'd like to set one up, but unfortunately, our district blocks blogs, educational or otherwise, and many of my students don't have access outside of school.

Hi! We have a system of daily independent work which includes vocabulary, writing workshop, and reading workshop. Every Friday, they must post an RRJ entry (two paragraphs - summary and personal reaction) on our class blog. I write responses (sometimes modeling, sometimes prodding, sometimes simply reacting), and occasionally they look at each other's blogs as well. I offer "choice time" at the end of each block, usually 15-30 minutes. Anything left over (whether independent work or project work for given unit) is homework. :-) Take care, Bill Ivey Stoneleigh-Burnham School _______________________________________________ The Literacy Workshop ListServ http://www.literacyworkshop.org To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/lit_literacyworkshop.org.
