Happened overnight with all instruments 'ON' St6000 powers up in standby mode, locked at 000 degrees. A few seconds later, 'NO LINK' appears. The control head (instrument) is not able to modify the backlite on the instrument group, but, if I remember correctly, all other instruments are able to modify the backlighting of the control head. Mine is defective. I am about to the call Raymarine Service Center for the repair estimate, and I know it is going to be more than I expected! What can go wrong in the computer module .. a CPU, an Eprom? Couldn't a service tech with digital experience be able to diagnose and repair? Peter REPLY Not unless that tech has access to proprietary Raymarine data and the special chip sets used in the autopilots. Maybe if it's something obvious like the power transistors in the output stage that drives the pump. I worked for a Raytheon ( now Raymarine ) dealer and was close to the distribution center in Toronto. I could sometimes get a thing fixed but from seeing how the techs worked I think it unlikely an independent shop would be able to cope. so exactly what is it doing?
