Lagniappe is on the hard for new motor mounts etceteras and I just noticed something pretty disturbing. The port, stern-most, stand has pushed the hull in (concave at the pad) and I can see stress cracking on both sides of the 'dent'. Its starboard-side mate is several inches forward & I'm pretty sure that it is on a bulkhead - and that the port one is not.
My understanding (well, since a power-boatyard in Stuart did the same damn thing to my Kittiwake 23) is that the stands are not supposed to bear weight - rather maintain the vertical alignment - with the weight on the keel. I just spoke to a surveyor who said otherwise (suggested that sop is to put the boat on the stands and THEN place blocks under the keel). He started talking about a wet core... (I'm doubting this from what I think I know of my boat). Am I correct on proper on-the-hard protocol And might this surveyor be a little 'adrift'? We also have our car and boat titles, registration, drivers licenses, etc there with no problem. I did have a problem with our Verison cell phone start-up, but were advised by the clerk to use a shoreside address at first, then change it as the computer kept rejecting it when he tried to start up with it. That worked fine.
