As the old saying goes, ".. times they are a changing."

L Erie was my home water.

Almost every week end, would sail to PIB or Kelleys.

The weekends we didn't, would sail to a Canadian port.

Back then the Canadians provided an 800# to call in and let them know 
you were in their waters.

They basically had two (2) concerns:

1) How much booze did you have on board.
2) Did you have any firearms on board.

Was never interviewed face to face in all those years.

Unless I was going to be in Canadian waters more than 48 hours, didn't 
even register.

Never contacted US authorities on return.

I wasn't alone, it was pretty much standard practice.

Things were pretty laid back in those days.

Just another sign of innocence lost.
