Absolutely. 
And right after the referee issues a penalty against the other team a 
miracle happens. The "severely injured" player rolling on the grass in
total agony gets up and starts running as if by magic and the crowds cheer. 
Some players are better actors and they limp for a few seconds to give the 
performance a touch of reality which brings on a bigger applause. If the 
referee can't make up his mind the charade continues, complete with a 
doctor and medics running to the rescue with a stretcher. 
Total BS.
