> A die cast aluminum box, black, watertight, 6.73" X 4.76" X 2.01"

"I have found a great, inexpensive (relatively anyway) source for
enclosures of this nature in the plastic electrical box style at the
local home depot/lowes style stores."

Hi Jim,
Yes those are very sturdy and neat boxes.
The die cast aluminum box has an advantage that it can conduct he
heat generated inside the box to outside air.
The DC/DC is expected to generate some heat. I picked a 30A FET
operating at 10A and a 20A Schotky diode and the inductor core losses are
low, the simulation indicated about 6W heat dissipation with the preliminary
circuit but I will run it again at lunchtime with the latest additions. Also
the
black color should help get rid of the heat unless the box gets direct sunlight.
How about a Green LED to indicate when the charger begins to charge?
A toggle switch ON/OFF ? (Maybe not necessary?)
More later
Thanks
