Ben,

I have played around with a couple of the units here in Jan's condo using a
9 volt battery as power. They can be heard easily in the quiet condo, but
at a noisy restaurant at lunchtime we had to be really close. I suspect
they will be louder on 12V. Much depends on the actual local conditions.

These units are small, about an inch and a quarter in diameter.

Of course, one could add a power amp and external speaker. The backs of the
units appear to be glued on and we all have a good assortment of instruments
of destruction.

I have read about larger units that hold several channels of audio and feed
separate audio outputs but they are hundreds of dollars. For $13.13 these
little units are worth a try.

On a slightly different device. Everyone is familiar with the Staples "That
Was Easy" big red button. I have always thought they were incredibly
shortsighted in not including a "record" switch on the unit. Then I found
one almost identical to the Staples big red button in a Hallmark store that
DID include a "record" switch for $10.
