Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Friday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm. I’ll
have all the day’s news and Paul will have the forecast.

Also on the programme tonight, I’ll have the latest on the triple jobs blow in
Bridlington. I’ll be getting the latest on that and will be getting information
from the food retail sector on this crisis.

Tune in tonight to find out why divers from America have crossed the Atlantic
and are in our region. And do you love antique toys? Do you remember all the
toys you used to own and cherish when you were a child? Well, I’ll have a
special treat for you from Lincoln tonight.

And I’ll be speaking to a wonderful up and coming comic tonight. If you’re a
fan of stand up comedy, then I’m sure you’d love this man’s Irish charm. He’s
the star of BBC2’s Mock The Week and has been the guest presenter of Have I Got
News For You. I’ll be speaking to Dara O’Briain tonight on the programme, so
don’t miss that one!

Thanks

I had a terrific response yesterday on the emails on a variety of subjects.
Thanks to those of you, who came down to the Princes’ Quay shopping centre in
Hull for the Sofa Tour yesterday. We’ve had a very busy week on the programme.
Don’t forget, over the weekend, if you’re talking to somebody, who is not
signed up to the Levy Letter and you think they might like one, then get them
to sign up. I’ll have news on a competition as well on Monday, which is
exclusive to the Levy Letter. So sign up if you want to enter that one. Go to
either one of the two addresses at the bottom of the page, sign up and then
look out for your Levy Letter on Monday.

Guests

Don’t forget if there’s a guest that you’d like to see on the programme and who
you’d like me to interview, then drop me a line and let me know. I’ve had two
or three emails all asking for Jilly Cooper. Jilly has got a new novel out and
it’s another one of her blockbusters I’m sure and this one is called Wicked.
It’s much awaited and is set in the world of education. She is having a book
launch next week, where everybody, who is invited to the book launch, is asked
to dress in school uniform! Well, I’ve got some good news, and that is that
Jilly Cooper is on her way to our part of the world and I’ll be talking to her
on the programme in the next couple of weeks. So, look out for that one!

Fifties

Now, this was music to my ears. People are happiest in their fifties according
to research. The quality of life of a fifty-something is much better than a
twenty-something and thirty-something, thanks to safe areas to live and regular
contact with family and friends. A landmark study argues that these feel good
factors outweigh any health issues that may arise. The decade of being in your
fifties is the one in which you’ll be the happiest. So I’m pleased about that
one and looking forward to the next nine and a half years!

4x4

Thanks very much indeed for the array of comical emails reminding me that as a
4x4 driver, I will be paying more since the Budget was announced. Well, thanks
for reminding me! I’ve decided not to read those out at the moment, but as you
can imagine there have been quite a few comical emails having a go at me about
my car!

Pictures

Don’t forget keep the pictures coming in. If you’ve got a picture for the Big
Screen in the studio, a scenic view of the area, then send it to me either
electronically to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or by the post to BBC Look North, Queen's
Court, Queen's Gardens, Hull, HU1 3RH. And don’t forget, if you want your
photograph returning, then please be sure to include your address with the
photograph.

Well, that's it from me for today. Have a lovely weekend. Whatever you’re up
to, then don’t forget to do some PR work for us and advertise the Levy Letter
and get your friends to sign up over the weekend so that they can enter the
exclusive competition on Monday.

And if you’re planning an event in your area and you’d like a bit of publicity
for it, then get in touch. I’ll see if I can give a bit of a plug in the Levy
Letter! Just email me the details to the usual address.

Join me tonight for Look North on BBC1 at 6.30pm and look out for your Levy
Letter on Monday.

Take care

Peter
