Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Thursday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day
is going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm.
I’ll have all the day’s news and Paul will have the forecast.

And tonight, I’ll be looking at the proposed new scheme in Boston, where
teenagers are given rewards for good behaviour. Will it help reduce the amount
of anti social behaviour? Well, I’ll be looking into that one tonight.

We all love watching the amazing sights and feats of the Red Arrows. Well, as
the Red Arrows prepare to leave for the summer to the warmer climate of Europe,
I’ll be meeting one man, who’s devoted his life to photographing them.

And my special guest tonight is the Holby City actress, Kelly Adams. Kelly is a
local girl and at the weekend will have the great privilege of becoming the
first freewoman of her home town Lincoln! I’ll be speaking to her tonight on
the programme ahead of this ceremony. I hope you can join me then.

Grease

Well, as I mentioned last night on the programme, I have an exclusive Levy
Letter competition today. If you’re a new Levy Letter subscriber, who joined up
last night, then welcome and good luck if you enter this competition. Well,
I’ve got tickets to give away to see the hit musical, Grease. Grease is going
from strength to strength and is still just as popular as it was when the film
first came out. It’s a wonderful show, so I know you’ll enjoy it if you win
these tickets. If you want to go see Grease at Grimsby Auditorium, then all
you’ve got to do is answer this question – Can you name one of the stars of the
film, Grease? That’s it. Nice and simple question for you, just name one of the
actors of the hit film, Grease! Of course, only enter if you are able to get to
Grimsby this Saturday evening. Email me as soon as you can with the answer to
the usual address – [EMAIL PROTECTED] and best of luck!

Pictures

Don’t forget that we’re on the lookout for pictures. Not just pictures of
beautiful scenic views from around the region for our Big Screen, but if you’ve
taken a picture of anything that’s funny or a home video that you think I might
like to see, then either drop me a line to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or write to BBC
Look North, Queens Court, Queens Gardens, Hull, HU1 3RH.

Johnny Briggs

I was talking yesterday about Johnny Briggs and the way that he has played the
Alzheimer story in Coronation Street. Loads of people have emailed in to say
how fab he has been in that storyline. He’s still in the programme for a few
weeks yet, but Johnny finished recording with Granada Television on Monday. He,
of course, had a big leaving do. Loads of people have emailed in to say what
great entertainment he has provided for us over the years. That’s about the
wonderful actor, Johnny Briggs.

Singletons

Divorce and family break-ups will mean that 150,000 more people every year will
be living alone. That’s a staggering figure, isn’t it? Figures just out show
that most of new singletons will be aged over thirty-five, be victims of failed
relationships and also of separated families. The other thing is that there are
more and more people, who are deciding to stay single. (See, I’ve become
fashionable at last!) There are more and more singletons, 150,000 a year, which
is why there is a need, apparently, for five million extra homes in this
country.

Marriage

Still on the subject of marriage. People used to speak of a white wedding,
because that was the colour of the bride’s dress. Now they’re just as likely to
be talking about the colour of the sand on the exotic beach where the ceremony
was held. Almost one in four couples, who marry, have their wedding abroad,
according to a new survey. I can’t actually believe this, but they say that one
in four couples get married abroad in an exotic location. In the process, they
spend more than £4300 each. Pushing the amount spent by British couples on
weddings abroad to 1.7 billion pounds according to new research out. If anyone
has a view on that about marrying abroad, then do let me know!

Levy Letter

Don’t forget, if there is someone you know, who is not signed up to the Levy
Letter, then point them in this direction. Tell them what a good read it is and
what great competitions you have access to! Do some PR and advertising for us!
All they have to do is go to either one of the two web addresses at the bottom
of the page, bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire or bbc.co.uk/humber, click on Levy Letter,
sign up and then they’ll get their first daily email from me from tomorrow.

Freddie Starr

One of the guests on the programme last night was the comedian, Freddie Starr.
If you saw the interview, then you’ll know that he’s completely off the wall.
It was a bit of fun, and he certainly created a stir! I’ve had loads of emails
since the interview went out last night at five to seven, saying how much you
all enjoyed it. And lots of them were asking if we could have him on again!
Well, he’s doing two concerts in our part of the world in Skegness at the
Embassy Theatre and also in Peterborough. So if you go to the show, then do let
me know how it goes! Thanks to everyone, who wrote in to say how much they
enjoyed the interview.

Well, that’s all from me for today. Join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm. Look out
for your Levy Letter tomorrow and don’t forget, get your entries in for the
Grease competition as soon as you can to the usual address – [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Take care

Peter
