Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm. I’ll
have all the day’s news and Paul will have the forecast.

Tonight, we've got an exclusive BBC investigation on a convicted paedophile,
who is now working with young people at Grimsby Institute. He was jailed in
1997 for the serious sexual assault of a thirteen year old boy, but we
confronted earlier today whilst working at the college. I'm sure you're going
to have a lot of concerns about this one. I'll have more on that later.

And also, I will be talking to the actor, Shaun Williamson. He’s in town this
week in the seventies musical, Saturday Night Fever at Hull New Theatre. Shaun,
though, is well known for playing Barry in Eastenders. He also makes an
appearance as himself in the Ricky Gervais comedy, Extras. Shaun will be
joining me on the sofa tonight for a chat at half past six.

Stories

Don’t forget, if you’ve got a story that you think I should know about, a
problem that you think I might be able to deal with on the programme, or a
photograph that we might be able to use, however funny or scenic, then drop me
a line. The usual address is [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Letter

Police

Right, I need your help for this one. News coming in is suggesting that the
Home Secretary is pushing for our local police force, Humberside Police, to
merge with the South West force and the North Yorkshire force to become one
super-force, which will cover the whole of the Yorkshire area. I want to hear
from you if you’re an ex-policeman or if you live in the area and are concerned
about the effects this will have on your local police force. Do you live in a
rural area and are worried that the police resources will be focussed on the
larger cities and towns in the area and that your local service will become a
remote police force? Get in touch with me on this one, and I’ll put your
concerns forward when we look at this story in detail throughout the week. Get
in touch as soon as you can on this one to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Russell

Well, I interviewed the super singer, Russell Watson last Friday. He was the
star of the BBC’s Just The Two Of Us and has an incredible voice. He was a
great guest on the sofa and I’ve had a lot of people email me to say how much
they enjoyed the interview. Well, if you want to watch the interview again,
then you can. All you have to do is go to the Humber website at
bbc.co.uk/humber or follow the link below to the page. Follow the instructions
through and you’ll be able to watch this interview again in full!

Middle Aged Women

I see wisdom used to be the talent, hard work and experience that was enough to
ensure you stayed ahead in work, but I see that growing numbers of middle aged
women are taking more drastic action to help them compete with their younger
colleagues. Thousands are signing up for the so-called ‘Silver Surgery’,
because they feel that displaying their true age means that they command less
respect, and are judged by colleagues to be over the hill. And figures just
released, show that more and more women are going for a face lift later on in
life. I don’t suppose there’s any surprises there. Your views on that one and
indeed on anything else, then do get in touch at the usual address.

Sat Nav

This question is posed in one of the national newspapers this week and it got
me thinking, because it is one thing that I get quite a few letters about. Sat
Nav – is it a blessing or is it a curse? Ok, your views on Sat Nav gratefully
received. We touched on it a few weeks back. Satellite navigation systems are
offered as an extra in virtually all new cars or you can buy your own and
attach it to the dashboard. Almost every taxi driver, with whom I get in a taxi
these days, has Sat Nav and you can understand it for them. But of course, my
sister, who has got a smarter car than me and has got Sat Nav and she tells the
story of going up the M1 in the fast lane and the Sat Nav saying – turn round
at the next opportunity! Turn round, it’s screaming at her! And she’s screaming
back at it of course! Your experiences of Sat Nav and I’m sure there’s some
funny stories out there, I would love to hear about them. Is it a blessing or a
curse?

Memory

Have you remembered that it is the first day of Spring? Or maybe the second day
of Spring if you count yesterday and of course this weekend, the clocks go…
(Spring forward, Fall back)…so they go forward this weekend. We lose an hour
this weekend. But if your memory is good, then spare a thought for this lady –
she can remember every detail of her life for the past twenty-five years. Give
her a date at random and she can instantly recall what took place, what the
weather was like, what she ate, who she met and what she did. But the forty
year old, who is only known as A.J., to protect her identity, has the most
amazing memory! She admits that many of her memories bring her comfort and she
says that the constant recall is exhausting. Can you imagine being able to
remember every single day for the past twenty-five years? What you did, what
you were wearing, what the weather was like? It is extraordinary and I can
understand that it would be exhausting for her. Well, this woman !
has got the best memory around according to the papers, but she wants to
remain anonymous.

Well that’s all from me for today. Have a good day and join me tonight on BBC1
at 6.30pm. Don’t forget drop me a line if you want to share any story or
problem with me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Take care

Peter
