Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Monday’s Levy Letter. It’s the start of
another week. Join me tonight on BBC One at half past six. I’ll have all the
day’s news and also Paul will have the detailed weather forecast for us
tonight.

On tonight's programme, a BBC investigation will show that over half of coaches
in children's football associations in Lincolnshire have not been vetted by
police. Look North will be looking at why our children are being put at risk.
I’ll have the full story tonight on the programme.

Plus I'll be talking to the man in charge of Hull's parking attendants. I'll be
asking him if he gives his wardens targets to meet and also putting some of
your questions and concerns to him. Join me for that tonight.

What would you do to help your community? Well, I'll be meeting a man, who's
adopted his local railway station after years of neglect. Plus, I'll be
chatting to a Lincoln church leader, who wants to put cash machines in
churches. And I'll be chatting to a local teacher, who has been criticising
role models like David Beckham at a national conference. So a busy programme
tonight. Join me at half past six if you can.

Positively Happy

That’s the title of the new book by Noel Edmonds, which is all about Cosmic
Ordering. And already, I’ve started to read the book and have made a few orders
as well. I’m now just waiting for them to come true. So that’s Noel Edmonds
with Cosmic Ways To Change Your Life. That’s the title of his book and I’m only
a few chapters in, but I’ve made some orders already. If they come true, then
you’ll be the first to hear about it! And if they do, then it’s probably the
best £7.99 I’ve ever spent! So, I’ll let you know how I get on with Cosmic
Ordering.

Pictures

Don’t forget if you’ve got some pictures that you think that I would like to
see for the programme to show on the Big Screen, then let me know and let me
take a look. Also, if you’ve got a problem that we could tackle on your behalf
on the programme on Leave it to Levy, then do drop me a line and give me the
details. Give me a contact telephone number as well. The address is [EMAIL

Guests

Thanks for the emails suggesting a variety of guests for the programme. We’re
working on some of them now. And there’s someone, who’s has been routinely
requested to have on the programme and that is Maureen Lipman. She has been on
in the past and I see that she’s on her way to Hull on the 20th September to
Willerby and to the Ramada Hotel there. And that’s for a literary lunch. So
maybe when she comes up we’ll be able to get her on the programme. “The
Gibbon’s In Decline, But The Horse Is Stable” – that’s the name of her new
book. It’s certainly an interesting title, isn’t it? And Maureen Lipman will be
in Hull in September and we’ll see if we can get her on the programme then.

Noisy Neighbours

This is a subject, which comes up time and time again, but just at the moment
it has reached fever pitch. I think it’s something like 126% increase in noisy
neighbours over the past twelve months. There have been complaints about all
sorts of things, including all the usual problems like loud music. But now the
top advice to sort out your problem is actually ‘tea and cake’. You’ve probably
seen the adverts for this. You pop around to your neighbours with some cake and
ask them to put on the kettle. Then you sit down and have a nice cosy chat
over a cup of tea and a slice of cake and you can then sort out your problems
and issues. Anyway, that’s the advice just out. There’s been a huge increase in
the number of complaints and moans about our noisy neighbours. We’ve all had
problems with our neighbours. If you’ve got some examples of bad neighbours or
neighbours from hell, then let me know. Drop me a line and let me know. I’ll
put some of them in the Levy Letter, but of cours!
e with no names mentioned! I don’t want to increase your problems any more by
mentioning who you are!

Story Of Entertainment

BBC Two have had this wonderful programme on Saturday nights. I mentioned this
a couple of weeks back. It’s the history of light entertainment and it’s worked
through the ages. They’ve done the double acts and they’ve done the importance
of radio. It’s been a really good series. It’s on BBC Two on Saturday nights.
If you’ve been watching it, then I hope you’ve enjoyed it.

Also what do we think about the programme to find the new Maria for The Sound
of Music. I was watching that as well on Saturday night. It was in Andrew Lloyd
Webber’s house where all the Marias were auditioning. It certainly was
compulsive TV, but are you enjoying it or not? Let me know what you think about
that and indeed about anything else that you’re watching at the moment - [EMAIL

Debt

I see that the number of homes that are at risk in this country and the number
of homes that have been repossessed and the number of homeowners, who are over
twelve months behind with their mortgages is absolutely at the top than it’s
ever been. It’s at the highest levels since the nineties housing crisis.
Spiralling levels of debt threaten to ruin tens of thousands of families,
according to shocking figures just published. Repossessions, mortgage arrears
and bankruptcies have all rocketed over the last year. The numbers, who risk
losing their homes, has returned to levels, which have not been seen since the
dark days of the early 1990s. Experts predict that a record 100,000 people, and
possible more, could be made insolvent this year. In the first six months, one
person was made insolvent every minute by the courts in England and Wales.
That’s frightening isn’t it? How is that actually happening? That’s just
extraordinary. Today, however, the problem is caused by the number!
of us, who are binging on credit and living on the never-never as we used to
say. But there are spiralling problems on credit and debt in this country at
the moment.

So, on that cheerful note, that’s it from me for today. Join me tonight for
Look North on BBC One at 6.30pm for all the day’s news. And if there’s
something you think I should know about that’s happening in your local area,
then get in touch straight away. You can get me direct on [EMAIL PROTECTED] See
you tonight!

Take care,

Peter
