Hello It’s Peter here and welcome to today’s Levy Letter. I hope your day’s
going well and you’ll be able to join me on BBC One tonight at half past six
for all the day’s news.

Yesterday we heard that our region is England's fattest, well today there's
more bad health news because new studies have shown that the Bransholme area of
Hull has the highest number of smokers in the country. We’ll have something on
the programme about that tonight.

We’ll also be going behind the scenes of a new police crackdown on drivers
using mobile phones behind the wheel. A serious issue that one.

But on a lighter note, find out how you can enter a Spooky Dog competition in
Scunthorpe, and I'll also be speaking to the King of comedy, and King of the
Jungle, Joe Pasquale as he comes to our region.

We’re also going to be meeting some lucky school children with a space rocket
in their car park. I bet they loved that!

And we’ll take you behind the scenes of the amazing Moscow State Circus in
Lincoln, all that and more on Look North tonight. And of course Paul will have
the forecast…

An Evening With

Don’t forget our special night in aid of Children In Need. The tickets are
going quickly, and if you’d like to join me then, it’s Sunday November 12th at
the Hull Truck Theatre. I’ll be there, and Paul will be there as well with a
whole panel of guests and some live music. It promises to be a great evening;
we’ll be filming it for Children In Need too.
If you’d like to join me, tickets are £12.50 for concessions, and ordinary
prices are £15. As I say, we’re raising money for Children In Need, so it’s all
for a good cause.
I’d love you to join me there if you can make it along, all you’ve got to do is
give the box office a call and book your tickets, or pop along to the Hull
Truck box office. If you want to ring them the telephone number is 01482
323638. I hope you can make it.

Autumn

Well autumn is well and truly here, confirmed by the appearance of Autumnwatch
with Bill Oddie and Kate Humble – it doesn’t seem five minutes since we were
doing Springwatch!
Thanks very much for all your emails saying how much you enjoy the show, it
really, really has taken off for a programme on BBC Two at eight o’ Clock at
night. One of the reasons is that it’s so natural, and it’s live, and you love
it! Even people like me who are not particularly interested in the subject
matter I suppose are finding it a good watch. If you’ve not seen it yet, it’s
Autumnwatch with Bill Oddie and Kate Humble tonight on BBC Two

Walnuts

Well nuts of course have become part of my life since the start of the year
when I started doing Gillian McKeith’s diet. Well a handful of walnuts a day
can keep heart disease at bay. Scientists have shown that snacking on nuts can
prevent fatty foods from damaging arteries. It’s thought that walnuts are rich
in nutrients that reduce hardening of the arteries, one of the main causes of
heart attacks and strokes. Well if you like walnuts, it’s good news.
The research showed that walnuts provide even more protection that Olive Oil,
feted for its ability to ward off heart disease. It’s recommended we eat an
ounce of walnuts a day, which is seven or eight nuts, for optimum health. If
you like nuts, then eat with a guilt free conscience.

Kirstie

Another programme which is always very popular on the TV with viewers is “The
Property Programme” with Kirstie Allsopp. Well she made her name as the
presenter of “Location, Location, Location” and for Kirstie it seems that home
is where the heart is. She’s told us that she’d like to quit her £300,000 a
year job hosting the programme to concentrate on her new job… which is
Motherhood.
Can you believe that? £300,000 a year she gets for that. The thirty four year
old said the birth of her first son in July has made her regret signing a new
deal with Channel Four. We do feel sorry for her! And she plans to step out of
the lime light when that deal finishes in 2008. So, she’s regretting signing up
for a job that’ll pay her £300,000 a year. She wants to spend more time at home
being a mum to her little boy who is called Bay Atlas. She says, “Since I’ve
had Bay, everything has changed. I think of myself as Kirstie Allsopp – Bay’s
mother, not Kirstie Allsopp – TV Presenter.”

Singer in Red

Well talking of celebrities, with a number one UK hit twenty years ago, it’s no
wonder that Chris De Burgh is turning his hand to something else, to put it
more accurately, his healing hands…
The fifty seven year old singer claims that he has the power to heal the sick
using only touch. He gave an interview to “The Heaven and Earth Show” on the
television with Gloria Hunniford, in which he said “I found myself able to cure
people with my hands. I met someone in the West Indies who was not able to
walk. I put my hands on him and he was able to get up and walk. I know the
papers will get excited with this so I try to play it down.”
He said this on Sunday, “I have to stress I think we all have this facility.”
So there we are, Chris De Burgh, the man who sang “Lady In Red”, has got
healing powers. Well, that’s what he told us on television…

Email

Don’t forget if you want to drop me a line, if you want to email me on any

to me you can get me direct on [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well, have a very good day, and join me tonight on BBC One at half past six.

Peter
