Hello, it’s Peter here, and welcome to Monday’s Levy Letter, I hope your day’s
going well, and you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at half past six
as usual.

On the programme tonight we're out with police on a drugs raid in Grimsby, you
won't want to miss that one, and it’s a report that’s bound to provoke a strong
response. Our reporter Kevin Keane will be with Humberside Police as they raid
suspects’ houses.

Twenty One years on, we'll be meeting some of the Legends of Rugby League. I
know there’s a lot of sports fans in the area, so I’m sure there’ll be a lot of
you interested in this.

And, could you be the new voice of the talking clock? Well that’ll be an
interesting one, perhaps we can look forward to hearing a talking clock with a
Lincolnshire or Hull accent soon!

And Paul will have the forecast as usual now that he’s well and back with us.

Museum

Thanks very much to those of you who came to the National Museum of Film,
Photography and Television at Bradford yesterday. I was giving a talk about
television in their new television gallery over there, and it was great to meet
some of the people. So, for those who made the effort, thank you very much
indeed. And over the coming months, if you’ve got children – or if you’re just
interested in television – the museum over there’s got a brand new interactive
television gallery where you can actually get your hands on the cameras, and
have a go at reading the news. It really is worth a visit, it only takes about
an hour in the car over from Hull. If you’re going, then enjoy.

Levy Letter

Well we’ve been having some problems with the Levy Letter recently, all caused
by something going wrong with the BBC server. Don’t ask me what that means, but
apparently it should be up and running smoothly again now. So fingers crossed,
the Levy Letter should be back to normal, and our apologies for the troubles.

Children In Need

Don’t forget, it’s getting ever closer, there are literally only a few tickets
left for the Evening With Peter Levy, I would love you to be there. If you’ve
not got your tickets yet, and you’d like to come, then you can call the Hull
Truck box office on 01482 323638. Get your tickets and we’ll see you with all
our guests, and Paul, on the evening of the 12th of November. If you want to
come along then make it to Hull Truck theatre, or give them a call.

Daniel Corbett

Daniel Corbett did the weather for one day last week when Paul was off. We’ve
had several emails saying how much they enjoyed it, and what a character he was
for playing along with it and having a bit of fun. So thank you for those, and
I have passed a couple of those comments on to Daniel in London.

Age

I see that David Cameron is making a speech today championing elderly people,
he wants get across the message that we should value older people and they
should be recognised. He’s also saying that their economic value is of some
significance, in other words the older people have got money to spare. Once
again, age is in the headlines. So there we are, lets value older people, and
of course we can no longer make jokes about older people, and indeed we’re not
even allowed to have birthday cards making jokes about age anymore.

Guests

Well thanks for the emails on a variety of subjects asking for guests on the
programme. Julie Walters was one of the most requested guests, and Julie was on
the programme last week. Of course, I was looking at Michael Ball on the
television the other night, being interviewed by Jonathan Ross, and he’s
another one of the people that’s requested regularly on the programme. He
doesn’t actually do many concerts in our part of the world, but I’m sure we’ll
have Michael Ball on before too long. But thanks for everyone who’s asked for
Michael to be a guest on the programme.

Also, just while I think about it, The Royal came to an end last night, another
six weeks, always good Sunday night television, and especially on a night like
last night when it’s cold and wet and you’re inside to put your feet up and
watch the royal. And most of the stars of the royal are going to be at a
special charity evening in aid of Motor Neurone Disease on the 18th of December
at The Sands Venue in Gainsborough. A lot of the big names who play the
characters, Amy Robins of course, Dr Weatherill, and also the actor who plays
Dr Ormerod. They will all be there on the 18th of November.
Now don’t forget that the week before, is our big one at the Hull Truck Theatre.

Spring

I see all the flowers are now confused, there are buds on trees, some of the
spring bulbs are out, nature thinks it’s spring because of some of the extreme
temperatures. And I must admit, yesterday I was in Leeds, and seeing some of
the people sitting outside drinking coffee with just a jumper on, al fresco, at
the end of October was quite extraordinary. But now nature is confused and some
of the stuff that’s meant to be out next spring is coming out already.

Computers

I see that the latest finger to be pointed at computers is that they’re
threatening children’s hand writing. It seems five out of six children are
leaving school now without the basic skills to do handwriting. Computers, and
the availability of computers in schools are being blamed for that.

Leave it to Levy

If you’ve got a problem, or an issue that you’d want us to discuss on the
programme, then drop me a line, give us the details of the story and your
telephone number as well, and I’ll see what I can do. So send me the details to
the usual address [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well that’s it from me this Monday, join me tonight on BBC One at half past
six, have a very good afternoon, and take care.

Peter
