As a Linux trainer by profession, I get to see all sorts of Linux people on course and get to talk to their bosses afterwards. These hard-core techies tell me what their bosses want from the advanced Linux specialists they aim to become and in very rough order of importance, it's something like: Linux clients play nicely with AD just like Windows clients do; Someday, a Linux box can replace a Windows PDC and BDC; LDAP, Kerberos, single sign-on, not necessarily Windows-style; Edge of network security; SELinux and any other MAC tools that might crop up; Rock-solid servers with 5 nines uptime that *includes* planned downtime, i.e. there is no downtime for any reason These are very very scary subjects and in truth I avoid them at all costs while training. But these things separate the men from the boys and if you want to play at LPIC-3 level, those are the things in demand in my country. In other words, if I estimate the target market for LPIC-3 correctly, Bryan is 100% on the money alan _______________________________________________ lpi-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://list.lpi.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lpi-discuss
