You don't have to bother about pencils, finding the right place on the solution sheet to mark, etc. After you've worked through all the questions, you get to see a list of questions with marks showing which ones you answered and which ones are still open. You can jump directly to these. You can also mark questions that are being displayed such that you can look at just these later. Of course if you can answer every single question correctly when you look at it the first time these don't matter but many people prefer to make several passes over the exam, in which case these features come in handy. > AFAIK the paper exams usually take place in combination with fairs, > conferences, etc. where people are already coming for other reasons. It depends a lot on what sort of exam-taker you are. If you are one of those people who prefer to take an exam well-rested and with nothing else on their mind, you may fare better with a computer-based exam near where you live. If you are not easily distracted then by all means go to CeBIT or LinuxTag, enjoy yourself and then at some point sit your exam. > If you already get paid a course by your employer or whoever, you will > often get paid the higher fees for the CB exams as well. If you need to travel over half an hour longer to where you can sit a paper exam as opposed to a computer-based exam, the higher fee for the computer-based exam may be worthwhile to your employer (if an hour of your time is worth €80 to your boss). If you need to pay for the exam yourself it's essentially up to you. As I said, it depends on a lot of factors in addition to the exam fee, like how easy you find it to sit exams, where you live in relation to test centres/trade fair venues, your time frame for the certification, etc. I would only suggest not to use »Paper exams are way cheaper!« as your only criterion for deciding what sort of exam to take -- since they may not in fact *be* cheaper at the end of the day (in the worst case, a paper-based exam plus a paper-based re-sit are already more expensive than a single computer-based exam that you pass, even if we're counting just the exam fee).
