From what I have heard / read I could afford two paper exam attempts
for one CB exam.

There are a lot of different prices starting with 125 EUR + VAT up to
180 EUR per exam, which seems to depend on the test center, too. 
On the other hand I read about paper exam fees between 50 and 70 EUR.

Of course no one is interested in failing an exam but failing a CB exam
is much more expensive than failing a paper exam. Maybe I check the
paper solution if I start an attempt for LPIC-2 and afterwards I report
the differences. But this won't be this year.
