Hi all,
I think that computer based exam and paper based exam - is not the
question .
basically the method is multiple choice ..
my question, is why we don't use the method of tasks based exam ?
for example : if the task is to build and configure apache with 2
virtual hosts , we test the knowledge of installing apache (using rpm
for example) , using vi to change the configuration .. the knowledge of
apache configuration etc.

certification, etc. I would only suggest not to use »Paper exams are
way cheaper!« as your only criterion for deciding what sort of exam
to take -- since they may not in fact *be* cheaper at the end of the
day (in the worst case, a paper-based exam plus a paper-based re-sit
are already more expensive than a single computer-based exam that you
pass, even if we're counting just the exam fee).
From what I have heard / read I could afford two paper exam attempts
for one CB exam.
There are a lot of different prices starting with 125 EUR + VAT up to
180 EUR per exam, which seems to depend on the test center, too.
On the other hand I read about paper exam fees between 50 and 70 EUR.
Of course no one is interested in failing an exam but failing a CB exam
is much more expensive than failing a paper exam. Maybe I check the
paper solution if I start an attempt for LPIC-2 and afterwards I report
the differences. But this won't be this year.
