Many enterprise desktop and configuration management solutions are
pretty universal across _all_ computing platforms. Yes, there are
system-specifics, but some of the core competencies are common. In
fact, we should _not_ be testing on Microsoft solutions, and I'll give
you a perfect example.

Microsoft itself, internally, uses Altiris enterprise management
solutions. Altiris' solution supports patches and management of Cisco
equipment, various UNIX flavors and Linux. This is what Microsoft
itself has been using -- heavily so after the portions of Microsoft not
under Altiris patch feeds went down with SQL Slammer (long story --
"staying current" with your patches _caused_ you to be suseptible -- as
Microsoft's own systems did from SMS/SUS feeds).

So we should _not_ be addressing Microsoft solutions, as many
enterprises do _not_ use Microsoft solutions -- including Microsoft
itself.  ;->

If and when there is a "critical mass" and time to do so, we _should_
come out with a "Desktop" exam that would and could address many common
issues with Linux, MacOS X, UNIX and Windows clients and peer-nodes.

The existence of Linux has far more to do with the breakup
of AT&T's monopoly than anything Microsoft has ever done.
