Gentoo is popular when the rigid enterprise configuration management
(ECM) release model done by package vendors "gets in the way."  It's
just a continuation of the long argument heading back to BSD.

Gentoo is complementary in my profession, especially for development.
Most package distros, even Fedora, are just "too behind" for leading and
prototyping development, and packaging decisions "get in the way."

I never argued that Portage should be in LPIC.  I just stated that an
objective should be considered, even if not included in any exam.
