I don't think this is the problem. I think the problem is the _original_
postscript driver used to create the questionable pdf's may have been <5.2
driver.

I have a feeling CUPS on OS X is doing some sort of filtering to
straighten out the job before it goes to print. That is my only
explanation of why the job prints faster on OS X (3 vs 30 min) because
windows isn't printing the pdf I created on the Mac any faster then it was
the original pdf.

I just wish I knew what it was...
