When printing PDFs from Internet Explorer using the Acrobat Reader plugin, you should be using the Acrobat Reader plugin print button rather than the IE print button.

One of our students noticed that when you print some pdf documents from secured web sites (viewed by the plugin), the filename sent to the queue is very long (usually a long url).
Our quick solution is:

The filename trick may sound weird; however, whenever someone cannot print a pdf file (being viewed by the browser plugin), the above trick usually works.
We haven't had the time to pinpoint the exact cause of this situation. We thought about editing our incoming control filter to limit the filename length; however we haven't had to chance to do it.

Welcome to the club.
Rule of thumb: Printing PostScript from an Adobe product will
work best on a
printer with a true Adobe PostScript interpreter. Surprise.
Workaround: Use "Print as Image" in Acrobat Reader. This can
be either slower
or faster, depending on the content of the document. It will likely
be lower
quality, but not much lower.

There is no indication from the client side or from just a standard
lpq that
there was a problem. I solved this by updating the client PC to
Acrobat
Reader 6.0 instead of the 5.0 that he had. I don't like that very
much
because 6.0 is so much slower but the user was pleased that I
got him
printing again. Hope this may help someone.
