Minutes for UA MOPS meeting, June 20, 2006
In attendance:
Kobus Barnard, Bongki Moon, Francesco Pierfederici (phone), Praveen Rao
Main points:
o Praveen reported that he ran the PS-MOPS code on one of the PS machines
remotely, but was not able to use the web browser.
o Francesco discussed the installation steps, environment settings,
and configuration parameters for the PS-MOPS code. He also discussed
how solar system database is populated by the PS-MOPS, and
the interaction between the PS-MOPS code and the detection catalog.
One point we were not clear about was whether the detection catalog
would be generated/altered by the PS-MOPS code. Francesco will find out
more on this.
o We discussed a plan for the local installation of the PS-MOPS code.
We might install and run it on one of the clusters in the Dept, and let
it interact with a local MySql server running on the Dept machine.
o Regarding the interaction with the pipeline, we identified a few
near-term goals:
(1) understand the simulator and how data are produced,
(2) understand the projection pipeline, orbits projected to images,
(3) integrate our codes (matching, expectation maximization) with
the PS-MOPS code,
(4) tune the database schema design and interface.
o Francesco reported that he would add foreign-key constraints to
the database scheme (in MySql) and create an ER diagram from the new
schema design.
