A bit more on the XF86Config Keyboard errors
I'm seeing at boot up on the client machines:

running locate XF86Config yields the following relevant results:

gpgaltsp:/opt/ltsp/i386/etc# locate XF86Config
/etc/X11/XF86Config
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4
/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/XF86Config
/opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config.indy
/XF86Config.new
gpgaltsp:/opt/ltsp/i386/etc#

(I deleted from the list various back-ups and copies in my home
directory which did not seem relevant).

Keyboard definitions abound in each of these files. Which gets used to
boot-up X on an LTSP client machine?

Any other clues about how to proceed here?

Thanks again for your time.
