Mr. Quillan:  

Thank you, that moved me further down the road.  Now its bombing out
when it starts bringing up the X-server, giving me another: 

        Fatal server error
        No valid modes found.  

This brings me back to my earlier question:  
        Which XF86Config file should I hack 
        that will effect what is happening 
        with the clients?

Hugh,

You've hit upon a bug in the ltsp packaging.  You've got
a video card that requires the old X3.3.6 Xservers, but you are
missing a script to make it work.

Take a look at:

There is more info about how to fix the problem.
