Hugh, You've hit upon a bug in the ltsp packaging. You've got a video card that requires the old X3.3.6 Xservers, but you are missing a script to make it work.
Take a look at: http://www.ltsp.org/ltsp-4-errata.html There is more info about how to fix the problem.
